Two-step sign-in and sign-in alerts

Protect your login with a code from your phone.

Your RepOcean login can post replies to your Google profile, so it’s worth protecting. Open Security.

Turn on two-step sign-in

After your password, RepOcean asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone. Someone who steals your password still can’t get in.

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password.
  2. Choose Set up two-step sign-in.
  3. In the app, add an account and scan the QR code. Can’t scan? Type the key shown under it.
  4. Type the 6-digit code the app shows and choose Turn on.
  5. Save your recovery codes. Choose Copy codes or Download as a text file and keep them somewhere safe. They’re only shown once.

Signing in

Enter your email and password as usual, then the newest code from your app. Codes change every 30 seconds.

Lost your phone? Type one of your recovery codes (like k7q2-m9xd) instead of the code. Each works once. Then make new ones under Make new recovery codes.

Sign-in alerts

When your account is used on a phone or computer we haven’t seen before, you get an email with the device, its internet address and the time. Not you? Reset your password straight away. You can turn these emails off under Email me about new sign-ins, but we recommend keeping them on.

Where you’re signed in

The Security page lists the devices that have used your login. Choose Forget next to one you don’t recognise; signing in there again triggers an alert.

Turn two-step sign-in off

Open Turn off two-step sign-in and enter your password and a current code or recovery code.

After 8 wrong passwords in 15 minutes, sign-in is paused for a while to stop guessing. Wait 15 minutes or reset your password.

Ready to try it? Opens the right page in RepOcean. You may be asked to sign in first.
